(The board game)


Session Report:

Preparation
5-10 players are required, 10 players played for this session.
At the start of the game 10 small envelopes with cards are shuffled, each player takes one envelope randomly. The cards include 2 ballots (Yes and No) and political affiliation (Fascist, Fascist (Hitler), or Liberal).
  • It is expected to only remove "Ya!" (Yes) and "Nein!" (No) cards out while leaving the rest of the cards inside the envelope.
  • Everyone closes their eyes, while the fascists all open them to identify each other.
  • The President is selected and then the President nominates a Chancellor. 
  • A democratic vote is then put in place to either accept or deny the nominated person for chancellor.
  • After 3 rounds, if Hitler is elected as the Chancellor then the Fascists win.
Round 1
Lea is selected as the President and Beckett is nominated & democratically elected as Chancellor.
  • 3 policies are drawn by the President.
  • The President throws 1 policy away and passed the remaining 2 policies to the Chancellor.
  • The Chancellor throws 1 policy away and the remaining policy is passed.
  • A Fascist policy is passed.
Round 2
Karen is elected as the President and Justin is nominated & democratically elected as Chancellor.
  • 3 policies are drawn by the President.
  • The President throws 1 policy away and passed the remaining 2 to the Chancellor.
  • The Chancellor throws 1 policy away and passed the remaining policy.
  • A Fascist policy is passed again. 
Round 3
Emilie is elected as the President and Quynh is nominated & then denied Chancellor through election.
  • The democratic election fails and the election tracker moves to level 1.
  • No policies are drawn.
Round 4
Vivian is elected as the President and Sejeong is nominated & then denied Chancellor through election.
  • The democratic election fails and the election tracker moves to level 2.
  • No policies are drawn.
Round 5
Jared is elected as the President and Vivian is nominated & democratically elected as Chancellor.
  • 3 policies are drawn by the President.
  • The President throws 1 policy away and passed the remaining 2 to the Chancellor.
  • The Chancellor throws 1 policy away and passed the remaining policy.
  • A Fascist policy is passed again for the third time.
Round 6
Beckett is elected as the President and Justin is nominated & democratically elected as Chancellor.
  • Justin is revealed to be Hitler.
  • The Fascists win.

Learning Reflection   I would say that from everything I have learned so much about the complexities of making a game. I've spent so many years playing games and I have always known that it takes a lot of effort to develop or create games but it is a whole other experience to actually try it out for yourself. I learned that developing can be really stressful and that there are a lot of instances where things take a while to work out. It is definitely a process which takes a lot of time and effort and I can see why so many game developers take years upon years to finish a game. Even during the final presentations, there were people who had a hard time with certain UI issues and the way their game was uploaded. I think that this class has given me an experience that I don't think I would have found or had elsewhere. I don't think I would have ever had the motivation or put myself in a situation where I would create games like the ones I have in class and I'm really glad I...

  My Leg! (The Boardgame) My Leg!   is a multiplayer board game that has you navigating through space and fighting for your survival by keeping all your limbs in place.  Navigate through the entire board and try to collect all of the parts you need to escape. The mission won't be easy as there are many hurdles players will encounter and most of all will try to not lose a leg. In order to finish the game, a player must return back to the docking bay with both the parts they have collected and their literal body parts to reach victory. Components: - Pieces to represent players (4 pawns) - Pieces to represent lives of players (16 coins, 4 for each player) - Pieces to represent collectable items (9 different colored tokens, 3 blue, 3 yellow, 3 green) - One dice - One board Structure: Players start by rolling the dice in order to determine how many spaces they will move, landing on red means losing a life, blue recovers a life. JackBox Game

  Experience Playing a JackBox Game The game I played was  Trivia Murder Party 2, where there were trivia questions and if you got them wrong you might die. There was a timer and set amount of questions, if you managed to win then you got money. However, if you lose then you got sent to the killing floor where there are a variety of different settings you could be put in and may end up dying. There was a peg game where a player had to get the ball in the right hole or else they would die, in the end they did not get lucky and eventually died. I can be ok at trivia if there is a specific theme chosen. This was a little harder for me since the questions were very random at times and I had no idea what the answer could be. Overall, I still thought the game was really fun and it added a level of competitiveness when playing with others to get the answers right.
