Video Game Lab

The first game I played was "This the Only Level" and it had a variety of mechanics which I thought gave it a challenge aesthetic. It slowly got more difficult as I progressed forward and I unfortunately got stuck at stage 8. Overall, it was an engaging experience and I felt myself get more frustrated as I kept making more attempts to reach the goal.

The second game I played was a platformer called Bingo's Roundup and this game was very immersive in its theme and the goal was to collect animals through jumping across multiple platforms in the air and then making it to the barn. I would say that a connection between this game and This is the Only Level is that they both had a challenge aesthetic to them. Both of them gave a challenge to player and I would say that this was the core of what made them fun to play.

Another game that I played was called Pride and Prejudice and this game had more of a narrative aesthetic as it was very story and dialogue focused. Overall, it was interesting to see how the story progressed and what the choices you made led up to.

Difference Between Observing and Playing

The main difference I noticed while observing vs playing was that while observing I was much more relaxed since I wasn't doing the playing myself compared to when I played I found myself to be more focused and therefore more alert to everything happening on the screen.
